Host Families provide:
As a host for the Pittsburgh Council for International Visitors, you can travel the world without a passport, without buying a single airplane ticket, and without setting foot outside Western Pennsylvania. We are looking for citizen diplomats.
These volunteers demonstrate that diplomacy is not a federal government function reserved only for heads of state; it is a vital activity conducted in our own community each time a volunteer hosts a visitor from another country.
If you would like to become a host family, please fill out the Host Family Application and either email it to gshrott@pciv.org or fax it to Gail Shrott Executive Director at 412-246-4143
Benefits:
- Tours of the city for which volunteers are prepared during a training session.
- Driver service to appointments where other transportation is not available.
- Driver service for Saturday activities for international students.
- Home hospitality of a dinner or overnight stay in their home for international visitors for professional visitors or students.
- Short-term homestays for international students and scholars who are new to the Pittsburgh area. The host family provides a short homestay of 3 days to a week for new students prior to registration at local universities.
